In a small village there was an old temple on the side of a river. That temple had been derelict for many years, but its story was not known to any villager near the river.
One day, there was a boy named Alok in a village by the river. He wanted to know about truth of that riverside temple. One day in the evening he reached the temple. Arriving at the deserted temple, he entered inside the temple and after entering inside the temple, he started searching around. Searching, Alok saw a strange thing, an old book. And that book is guarded by a huge snake. The snake is about 7 feets long with gray marks like charred wood. Then Alok somehow moved the snake and retrieved the book. After recovering the book and reading it, Alok saw that the first page of the book was written, "The place of ghosts by the river side." The question arose in Alok's mind, "The place of ghosts by the river side"? Is this really possible? Many animals live on the banks of the river, how can their abode be a place of ghosts. Alok was so engrossed in reading the book that he didn't realize when evening turned into night. Suddenly a loud sound was heard, as if someone was laughing. Hearing this sound, Alok's concentration was broken and he saw that it was late at night. So Alok left for home without delay. And left the book where it was in the temple. Alok is walking home along the lonely road of the river. But the only question in Alok's mind is "Ghost place by the river side" how is it possible. Alok reached home and went to his room without talking to anyone. But in Alok's mind, that question kept spinning. Alok does not sleep at all that night, Alok only thinks that if there are really ghosts by the river side, then he must see those ghosts at least once. Alok fell asleep thinking this.
But even in sleep that incident did not leave the light behind. Even in his sleep he saw dreams that he is sitting in that temple reading the book and something is walking around him. It is like some kind of shadow they do not exist they want to touch the light but cannot touch it. Then the temple bell rang and Alok woke up to see the alarm of his clock ringing. It is seven o clock in the morning. Alok gets up and thinks that he will tell someone about the events of tomorrow! Then Alok thinks that if he tells anyone about this incident about his dream about the book about the shadow he saw in the dream, no one will believe him and instead everyone will think he is crazy because it is a dream and dreams cannot come true. So Alok does not tell anyone anything. He gets down to his own routine as usual.
After a few days, the light went away, the dream and the ghost almost forgot about it. He was talking with his friends and suddenly one of his friends said,
Friend:- "Do you know there are ghosts on the banks of the river".
Hearing this, the old question arose in Alok's mind. Alok sat curious and told him,
Alok:- "Who told you these things? How can there be ghosts on the banks of the river when there are animals and birds".
Hearing this, Alok's friend said
Friend :- "No you don't know" Then yesterday grandfather was saying that there was no temple in the old temple by the river there was Shashman there. It was haunted by ghosts, and if someone died in the house of those who had samadhi rites, they would bury them there."
Hearing this, questions arise in Alok's mind. Until now, Alok knew that Shashman is a very holy place, there is good energy there, but ghosts are evil energy, how can there be ghosts there. Along with him, Alok also started to think that after death people do not exist anymore and those souls seen in dreams did not exist. So what people become ghosts after they die? So what is really a place of ghosts along the river? This time Alok is getting stuck in his own question, Alok is not able to understand what to do. What will he tell his friends about the book? He will tell what he saw in his dream. While thinking about this, another friend of Alok called Ravi,
Ravi :- "What are you talking about? I don't believe there are ghosts in that temple. There can't be ghosts anywhere along the river. There are many animals and birds living there, how can there be ghosts?"
Hearing this, Alok sees someone equal to himself and Alok says the same. Then his friend said,
Friend :- "Believe it or not but this is really a ghost place by the river".
Then Ravi said,
Ravi :- "If there really is a place of ghosts then prove it".
Then the friend said,
Friend :- "If you are proving so much evidence then don't go and see yourself at night you will understand everything".
Hearing this, Alok tells his dream about what happened to him and he says he can't believe it either.
Hearing this, his friend said,
Friend :- "See I'm not saying there are really ghosts by the river".
Hearing this, Ravi said,
Ravi :- "Alok, say whatever you say but I don't believe it". If ghosts really exist then let's go and see and read that book.
Hearing this, his friend said,
Friend :- "Look don't do this but there is a lot of risk what will happen no one knows no one can say don't do this."
Ravi is a very brave boy and at the same time Alok's mind is getting question after question, Alok doesn't understand what to do, so Alok also says,
Alok :- "Yes come on I am with you I also want to see the ghosts I also want to know how the ghosts are Is it?"
Then his friend said,
Friend :- "Look, I'm warning you in advance! If something happens later, I don't know, don't tell me anything".
Then Ravi said,
Ravi :- "Dur! Why did you say these things when you don't have the courage to keep quiet? And besides, you're not telling the truth, you have to see it!"
Ravi silenced his friend saying this. And Ravi and Alok are undecided and will leave with this mystery emerging. So they decided to go to that lonely old temple by the river tomorrow evening. This time everyone goes home. Meanwhile, Alok also became very curious and excited that tomorrow he will get answers to all his questions. At night, Alok keeps thinking about it, Alok can't sleep. The night was coming and the morning was coming. Alok's eyes are coming just as the clock alarm goes off.
